Radicalisation, a low value put upon human life including that of terrorist martyrs, immigrants encouraging demonisation of themselves, police officers’ identification as heroes … these are some of the modern themes very present in the real life tale of the ‘Tottenham Anarchist Outrage’.  The event took place in sub-zero temperatures on 23 January 1909.  After a wages snatch by two heavily armed men a chase began in Tottenham.  This walk, taking place either side of the anniversary, follows the first part of the route, now a very attractive section of the Lee Valley Regional Park.  Enthusiasts will be offered the option of pursuing the story to its violent end in Highams Park.  Most if not all of us will end the walk at Higham Hill.
